Welcome to Mrs. Mathews' 4th Grade Class! This year is going to be busy, yet exciting...I can't wait! I love to see my students excel in their academics. My goal is to help my students grow in their appreciation of math, develop organization skills, create an environment that fosters respect for their classmates, and become more responsible with their learning.
A little bit about me....this is my third year at Life School Red Oak, but I have been teaching since 2002. I graduated from McNeese State University in 2001, with a BA in Elementary Education. I went on to receive my masters from UT of Arlington in Curriculum and Instruction in 2011. I have been married to my husband, John, since 2013. We have three wonderful kids (Madi, Kailyn, and Jayden) who make us laugh, and three fur-babies (Daisy, Bailey, and Sydney), who love to cuddle. In my spare time, I love to go to zoos/aquariums/festivals with my husband and kids, work out, and relax with my family and friends. I am a bit obsessed with Minions (as you can tell by my classroom decor), flair pens, sharks, and iced coffees.
My goal every year is to help my parents know and understand what is going on in their child's education, especially in regards to math. I will regularly post links, videos, activities, and assignments related to your child's learning, both academically and socially, as well as parenting resources for you.
If you have any questions or concerns, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Let's have a great year!!!
Field Trip - Thursday, November 30
Our Field Trip to the Ft. Worth Stockyards is this Thursday, Nov. 30.
We are scheduled to leave the school at 9 am.
I will assign students and parents into groups, which I will give to you the day of the trip.
Parents MUST check in at the school and pick up their badge in order to participate/attend.
Students CANNOT wear jeans. They are to wear uniform bottoms and either their uniform shirt or this year's turquoise Field Day tshirt.
Students need to bring their own sack lunch. Please make sure everything is packaged in something that can be thrown away as they will be responsible for it the whole trip.
You are welcome to take your child home at the end of the trip. You MUST sign them out with their homeroom teacher (me) at the end of the trip, as well as fill out a Refusal of Transportation form, which I will have with me.
