Red Oak Elementary

About Me

Welcome to Mrs. Mathews' 4th Grade Class!  This year is going to be busy, yet exciting...I can't wait!  I love to see my students excel in their academics.  My goal is to help my students grow in their appreciation of math, develop organization skills, create an environment that fosters respect for their classmates, and become more responsible with their learning.

A little bit about me....this is my second year at Life School Red Oak, but I have been teaching since 2002.  I graduated from McNeese State University in 2001, with a BA in Elementary Education.  I went on to receive my masters from UT of Arlington in Curriculum and Instruction in 2011.  I have been married to my husband, John, since 2013.  We have three wonderful kids (Madi, Kailyn, and Jayden) who make us laugh, and three fur-babies (Daisy, Bailey, and Sydney), who love to cuddle.  In my spare time, I love to go to zoos/aquariums/festivals with my husband and kids, work out, and relax with my family and friends.

My goal every year is to help my parents know and understand what is going on in their child's education, especially in regards to math.  I will post regularly links, videos, activities, and assignments related to your child's learning.  This will be a great resource for you and your child!

Let's have a great year!!!
